Stanley C. Humphrey

July 3, 1951 — December 8, 2019

Stanley Clark Humphrey, age 68, passed away peacefully in his sons's home Sunday December 8th in after losing his battle with Parkinsons / Dementia.

He was born July 3, 1951 to Basil and Faye (Rice) Humphrey in Kirksville, MO. He was raised on the Family farm north of Memphis and attended school and graduated in Scotland County. Stan grew up in the church, spending Sundays singing in the choir with his mother. He was baptized at a young age and had a yearning love for Jesus Christ.

After graduation in 1969, Stan enlisted in the Navy where he was radioman on the USS Gridley and telecommunications in the Pentagon.  After his service, Stan returned home to continue the legacy of the family farm, which has been in operation since 1941. In 1973, Stan married Sharon Lucas and to this union three children were born.

Stan had a passion for the outdoors hunting, fishing and farming.  He was always up for a good game of ping pong as well as horseshoes. He was an excellent cook which was a skill that he learned from his mother. Stan never missed a good meal and could always be found in line for a second helping.

Throughout his entire life Stan was known to be a hard worker and dreamer who never met a stranger. He was a dedicated employee @ Adair Foods, Kerr Grain and Morris Farms. He retired early from Morris Farms to enjoy the remainder of his days at his farm with family and friends.

Stan had an everlasting love for his kids and grandchildren always being their #1 fan. He was loved by everyone who met him and will be dearly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Faye Humphrey, a son in infancy, Matthew Lucas Humphrey,  grandson, Zachary Tyler Snelling, and best friend Steve Tomlin.

Survivors include his son: Bruce (Lacey) Humphrey of Memphis; one daughter: Erin (Chris) Skogsberg of Labelle, MO; one sister: Robin Humphrey an David Hall of Holt, MO; grandchildren: Aayla Humphrey & Kaylee Humphrey of Memphis, Trevor Snelling of Baring, MO, Cody Miller of Memphis, MO, Annalise Miller & Emmalyn Skogsberg of LaBelle, MO; Aunt & Uncle: Frank & June Reed of Memphis, and Uncle: Paul Reed of IA,  along with nephews, cousins, friends and Navy buddies.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Humphrey family for their discretion in care of the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.
