Funeral services for Roy M. Watson, 80, of rural Memphis will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 3, 2016, at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pastor Mike Wilson officiating assisted by Pastor Chris Meyers. Interment will follow in the Memphis Cemetery.Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 3, 2016, from 10:00 until the time of service at 3:00 with the family present to receive friends from 1 to 3 that afternoon.
Roy Watson passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 29, 2016, at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Margaret of the home, one son: Terry (Debbie) Watson of Canton, IL; nine grandchildren: Jeremy (Desi) Watson, Julie (Darrel) Hunt, Joe Watson, Marc (Erin) Flynn, Scott (Sarah) Flynn, Jenny Oaks, Trinity Watson, Cory Watson, and Matthew (Heidi) Watson; eleven great-grandchildren; his siblings: Paul (Mary Jane) Watson of Canton, IL, Judy (BoB) Norton of Elizabethtown, KY and Crystal (George) Rude of Canton, IL, sister-in-law: Edith Watson of Dunfermline, IL along with nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The son of Raymond and Kathryn Whitehead Watson, he was born on December 18, 1935 in Fulton County, IL.
He married Margaret Purvis May 24, 1953, lasting for over 63 years at the time of passing.
Roy started out farming and then moved to Canton, IL where he went to work for International Harvester Company until he was laid off in 1957. From there he moved to Los Angelos, CA to become a member of the Los Angelos Police Department. He had an opportunity to move back to Canton, IL in 1960 to return to work at his previous employment for another 23 years before it closed.
He sold his farm in Canton and moved to Memphis where he retired from farming at the age of 65. He and Margaret then wintered in the Alamo, TX for the duration of his life.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding the four wheeler with his dog, playing croquet, card games, shuffle board and being with his children, grandchildren and close friends. But most of all he enjoyed being with the Love of his Life, Margaret. They attended the Richland Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife: Margaret Watson of the home in rural Memphis, MO; son, Terry (Debbie) Watson of Canton, IL; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; a brother: Paul (Mary) Watson of Canton, IL; two sisters: Judith (Robert) Norton of Elizebethtown, KY and Crystal (George) Rude of Canton, IL and a sister-in-law: Edith Watson of Dunfenline, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ronald Watson and his sons, Jeff JR Watson and Tony Watson.
