My Lifestory

Robert Eugene Dugger, 76, of Hitt, Missouri, passed away Monday morning, August 12, 2013, at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. The son of Everett and Mildred Riggs Dugger, he was born January 13, 1937 in Herman, IL

He attended school in Good Hope, IL and graduated with the class of 1954. He then attended college at Western Illinois State University before enlisting in the Navy for three years.

He married Betty Grosenkemper on October 28, 1961 at the First Christian Church in Memphis and to this union three children were born.

In 1970 Robert moved to Scotland County farming there and later on worked for the county for eight years as well as a repairman at Scott’s Home Center before retiring in 1999.

He loved the outdoors, especially his gardens. He enjoyed taking his dogs on walks and golf cart rides along with fishing as well as spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending hours of phone conversations with his good neighbor and friend, Joe Eddie.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Marie Dugger, his  parents, mother-in-law, Kathryn Davis and niece, Cindy Doerscher.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; a son, David Dugger; a daughter, Jane (Blake) Holt; three granddaughters, Kristina (Tyler) Burns, Lacy (Bruce) Humphrey and Kassie Dugger and her fiancé Casey Gast; two grandsons, Laden Holt and Brandon Dugger; three great granddaughters, Aayla Humphrey, Mickey Burns and Lily Reese, a sister, Carol (Rex ) Blackwell; sister-in-law Darelene (Jack) Dannenhauer, step brother-in-law, Jerry (Janice) Grosenkemper, a step mother-in-law, Bessie Baker; nieces, nephews, cousins, along with his two dogs, Rubert and Sadie who will miss him deeply.

Memorials are suggested to the family for their discretion and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St. Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Memorial services were held at the Payne Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. with Okley Arnold (Jr.) officiating. As per his wishes he was cremated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
