Robert "Bob" Holton

Robert C. "Bob" Holton, 94, of Memphis, Missouri passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 25, 2019 at Scotland County Care Center surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was the son of the late William and Mabel (Leonard) Holton.  He spent most of his life in Scotland County. After graduating from Downing High School, he enlisted in the Navy.

He came home and joined his father to farm the family land.  He met his wife, Tyra B. Morgan, and married her in 1950. They settled in rural Scotland County and raised their 8 Sons.  He provided for them by farming, and raising cattle, sheep and hogs.

Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He didn't know a stranger. He enjoyed fellowship with anyone that would sit and talk over a cup of coffee and some sweets! He enjoyed time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving, dedicated wife, Tyre, Later he married Josephine Ebert, and she preceded him in death as well, 2 brothers and their spouses, George (Doris) Holton and Charles (Fern) Holton, a grandson Eric, and brother-in-law, Leland Ketchum.

He leaves behind 8 sons: Robert “Gene” (Cindy) Holton of Goose Creek, SC, Herman (Janet) Holton of Downing, MO, Roy Lee (Doreen) Holton of Quincy, IL, Harold Holton of Memphis, MO, Paul (Wanda) Holton of Memphis, MO, James (Carlotta) Holton of Flanders, NJ, Alvin (Kristy) Holton of Downing, MO, and Leo (Rachael) Holton of Downing, MO; two step-sons, grandchildren Stacy (Ryan) Beal, Robert (Shawna) Holton, Rhonda (Thad) Short, Joseph (Cassandra) Holton, Tyra (Robert) Bartels, Damon (Jill) Holton, Darren Holton, Jonathan Holton, and Courtney Holton; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ketchum and Ruth (Charles “Jr”) Alexander, along with other relatives and many close friends.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Richland Baptist Church and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St. Memphis, Missouri 63555.
