Mary "Anabel" Boyer

On March 18, 1924 a baby girl was born to Ruby Rae (Kimbley) and Lawrence Reuben (Joe) Jones in Shelbyville, MO at the home of Ruby’s parents. They named her Mary Anabel. She weighed in at 12 lbs and was 22” long. She grew to be quite tall, and had the athletic ability to become quite a basketball star. Her friends spent many nights staying at her house in town just so they could play ball. She won awards that her parents were very proud of.

She married Hollis Boyer on Febuary 8, 1948. To this union 3 children were born. Their oldest daughter Vicky (Varnold) Ward lives in Kiksville, MO. Their only son Charlie Boyer & wife Beth live in Granger, MO. Their youngest daughter Tena & husband Gary Parrish reside in Memphis, MO.

Hollis & Anabel were blessed with 2 grandchildren KaTena & husband Tim Frey of New Bedford, MA and Andy Boyer of Memphis, MO, 2 step-grandchildren Cali and Jade Holt of Granger, MO, and 2 great grand-children Keana and Thaxton Frey.

Anabel was preceded in death by her parents and four grand-children..Michael & Gregory Varnold in 1977 and Candi & Mandi Boyer in 1982.

Anabel was very proud of her family and involved in community. She supported the Scotland County Hospital and Care Center for over 40 years and was an active member of the auxiliary. She believed in the importance this served to the people of Scotland County for which it was built. Together she and her husband were active members of the Missouri Land Improvement Contractors Association for many years.

Anabel was a strong support of, and partner to her husband of 66 years. Together they created Boyer construction Co. and she remained the bookkeeper until 2012, but she always had “the books” on her agenda.
