Christopher S. "Hoozie" VanHoozen

Chris "Hoozie" Shawn Van Hoozen, 40, of Memphis, MO rode home to be with family, friends, and his Lord on June 30, 2013. The son of Jackie Ralph Van Hoozen Jr. and Beverly Marie (Hicks) Van Hoozen, he was born on February 26, 1973 in Modesto, California.

Hoozie was a 1993 graduate of Scotland County R1 High School. This is where he made many lifetime friends and also where he met and later married Michelle Campbell. To this union two children were born, Kailtin Marie Van Hoozen and Mason Robert Van Hoozen.

Hoozie met and fell in love with Cynthia Mae Goodell. On September 30, 2006 Chris and Cindy "got hitched" and in this union he welcomed Cindy's children with open arms, Kody John Parkins and Kaleb Scott Parkins.

In November 2002 Chris attended the National Police Institute in Warrensburg, Missouri and then proudly served as a member of the Memphis Police Department (2004-2009). Chris pursued other careers before serving as a substitute bus driver for Scotland County and opening his own business, Hoozie's Sales and Service.

Chris enjoyed demo derbies, race cars, coaching baseball, football, soccer, watching the Green Bay Packers, and Nascar. Spending time with family, friends, and riding his motorcycle. Chris was an exceptional friend and he had an amazing ability to make you laugh. He will forever be embedded in the hearts and minds of all that loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Chris is survived by his mother and step-father, Beverly and Richard Billings of Gorin, MO; a daughter and son Kailtin and Mason Van Hoozen of the home; step-sons, Kody and Kaleb Parkins of the home ; sisters, Jennifer (Troy) Esser and Shawna Stone and friend Darwin (Bubba) Hauk of Memphis, MO; stepbrother, Leslie Billings and family of Kahoka, step-sisters, Lesia Hunziker and family of Kahoka, and Kimberly Carr and family of Warsaw, IL; nieces and nephews, Nichole (Jimmy) Wright, Whitney and fiance, Justin Ulmer, Heather (David) Borgstadt, Crissa Esser, Nakiya Allen all of Sedalia, MO, Caleb Smith of Indiana, John and Tait Morris of Iowa; Emma and Grace Morris and Phillip Esser of Memphis, MO. Kenny and Jaycen Bair of Memphis, MO, 10 Great  nieces and nephews and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and one very special friend, Hank the dog.

Cynthia "Cindy Mae" VanHoozen

Cynthia Mae Van Hoozen, 38, of Memphis, Missouri passed June 30, 2013. Cindy Mae was born July 9, 1974 in Monmouth, Illinois to Scotty (Pork) Goodell and Diane Goodell. She was a fantastic sister to Scotty G. and Joseph A. Goodell of Roseville, Illinois.

She impacted lives as a special education school teacher after graduating from Monmouth College in 1996. Following graduation she taught high school special education in Astoria, Illinois. She taught both high school and elementary in Knox County R1 in Edina, Missouri. Cindy was currently employed with SCR1.

On September 30, 2006 Cindy married her soul mate, Christopher Van Hoozen, and together they selflessly served their community. Her love for floating down the river and riding motorcycles with friends, reading, and family, filled those around her with great love.

She left behind two amazing young sons, Kody and Kaleb Parkins, as well as two great step-children, Kailtin and Mason Van Hoozen.

Cindy's motto in life was Live...Laugh...Love! We love you deeply.
