Carolyn V. Hinds

Carolyn V. Hinds, 90, of Memphis passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 19, 2025, at her home under hospice care with her family by her side. She was the daughter of Chan & Velma (Dietrick) Bull and was the first born of twin daughters on November 11, 1934, at Ottumwa, Iowa. Their mother died of complications of child birth. The twins along with their brother Stanley were raised by their dear grandparents, Ernest and Myrtle Bull along with their aunt Abbie and father Chan.

Carolyn attended a rural country school at Brock and graduated from Memphis High School in in 1952.

She married Danny Hinds in 1957 and to this union four children were born, Jodie Marilyn who died shortly after birth, Jeff, Jan, and Jed.

After her children were in school, she ran the café at Hind’s sale barn for several years, worked in the lunch room of the High school for a short time, and then at the Deli at J’s Foods for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in law, her husband, Dan, infant daughter, Jodie Marilyn, a son, Jeff, her sister, Gwendolyn, brother, Stanley, and her loving twin sister, Marilyn.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Jan (Doug) Meeks, and Jed (Keri) Hinds, five grandchildren, Ashley, Brock, Kara, Ryan and Jeremy, thirteen great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild to be, several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews that she loved like her own.
