Carol R. West, 89, of Kahoka, Missouri, formerly of Memphis, passed away on November 10, 2024, at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois with her three children by her side. The Daughter of Kermit and Callie (Ogden) Rose, Carol was born December 15, 1934 at Ottumwa, Iowa and grew up in Memphis. She graduated from the Memphis High School and was united in marriage to Richard Johnson on June 8, 1952. To this union three children were born, Brooke, Susan, and Sam. Carol was a homemaker until her children were older. She then started working out of the house at the flower shop and later the hardware store that they owned.  On October 24, 1985, she married Charles West and they moved to Arizona and New Mexico before settling back in their home in Memphis with their beloved dog Scarlett. Her other interests were antique parties, bridge, book club, and socializing at the nutrition site. Survivors include her three children: Brooke (Frank) Wineinger, Susan (Gary) Glenn, and Sam Johnson; nine grandchildren Rosemary Williams, C.J. Brose, Jay Lepley, Anna Gonzales, Dustin Glenn, Keith Johnson, Scott Johnson, Mark Johnson and Lacy Sallee; eighteen great-grandchildren, along with Chuck (Dori) West and Sherri West. Preceding her in death were her parents, Kermit and Callie Rose, two infant brothers, her husband, Charles West and daughter-in law, Sherri Johnson.

In lieu if flowers memorials are suggested to the Scotland County Nutrition Site or the Hospice of Northeast Missouri and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.

There will be a visitation with the family receiving friends from 10:00 A.M. Saturday morning, 11/23,until the time of Service at 11:00.  Memorial services will be held Saturday morning, 11/23, at 11:00 A.M. at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Memphis Cemetery.
